Street Condition Remarks
Dear Sir / Madam,
I am a twenty two year old student in Budapest. I am an extreme sports enthusiast and I am writing to explain the terrible situation of street sport possibilities. Skate boarding, in-line skating and BMX riding are common and accepted sports in every developed country. However, Hungary is a big exception. First of all, we don't have skate parks in this country so young people taking part in such events cannot do them safely. Second of all, they are forced to do their tricks in and on the roads, which makes for very dangerous and unhealthy problems.
So what can we do to solve this problem and why should we care? In skate parks, on the streets, or both? Street sports are not only great exercises but efficient and fun ways of travel - economical and environmentally friendly. The conditions and configurations of the roads are menacing and are probably the worst in Europe - totally inadequate for riding - and finally when the poor skater finds a good spot, he has 10 minutes before a security guy tells him to go away (usually not in the formal way)!
Yours faithfully,
